Registration for the 2018 season is NOW OPEN

Registration Steps

To register a player, follow the steps below and use the link to the online part of the process. For assistance we have provided an instruction booklet below, Parent Instructions for Registering Players .

  • Step 1:  Register on SCYR (Southern California Youth Rugby) Online Registration 
  • Step 2: If you are not already a member of SportsEngine then  register yourself on this link:   SportsEngine 
  • Step 3:  If you are paying by cash or check, please give these to your Team Parent,  Jenn Duffield (Registrar) or  Allan Cantle (President) as soon as possible. Please make checks payable to Ventura County Rugby Club

Age Groups

Orca has teams for kids from age 7 through high school. Players are divided into Under-18 (U18) Boys, U18 Girls, U16 Boys, U14 coed, U12 coed and U10 coed.

Age eligibility is determined by the athlete's age on the previous August 31st.  For example, for the 2017-18 season, an athlete must have been 11 or younger on August 31, 2017, to play for the U12 team.


Registration Fees

Fees:
 
U10-U18:

$285 all individuals, $235 for second and subsequent siblings

U8:

$100 all individuals


Payment can be made by Credit Card*, Cash or Check

* a $10 fee is added for credit card payments by the CC processing company

Fees include:
  • Orca Spirit Kit: Cinch sach, water bottle, car decal, training shirt, shorts & socks
  • Club costs: Field permits, Tournaments, Team Kit, Equipment, USA & Southern California Youth Rugby registration, etc.
  • Socials: Post Game food, Club social events etc.
Opportunities for $50* back!
  • Volunteer: 4 hours (per family) - See Player/Family Volunteering below

OR

  • Recruit a friend! Refund paid when $285 registration fees from the recruited friend have been paid

*This is a flat $50, one-time refund


Please be aware

  • Players cannot participate in contact drills until registration is complete and paid
    • It is imperative that players get comfortable with contact BEFORE playing a match; each player is different, but at least 2 weeks  (4-6 practices) of consistent contact drills is preferred
  • Players cannot play in matches (tournament, league or non-league match) until registration is complete
  • COMPLETION OF REGISTRATION (ID & age proof verification, and USA Rugby ID number issuance) can take up to approximately 2 WEEKS, AFTER player has gone through registration process below

Instructions

REGISTRATION

  • Registration will be made online through the Orca Youth Rugby Website, linking you to the SCYR (Southern California Youth Rugby) website.   All players must be registered before they can participate in any contact drills. 

COMMUNICATION

  • ALL communication from Orca Youth Rugby will be made through SportsEngine. Therefore, it is essential for parents and players to ALSO register with the SportsEngine website and download the APP.  See below for instructions.

  • Contact information: PLEASE INCLUDE BOTH EMAIL & CELL OR HOME PHONE & INDICATE BEST POINT OF CONTACT - We use Text & Email updates to coordinate travel, match/practice updates or cancellations, kickoff  & reporting times, social/extracurricular activities & volunteer opportunities!

New Players: Before starting registration, please scan the players birth certificate and school ID in .jpg, .png or .tiff format. Please also create a digital photo (head and shoulders only). Please note that the file size is limited to 60 KB.

Returning Players: Use your login for SCYR from the previous year and you will find many of the parents and players details already entered. Please check the information is still current. New school ID will be needed.

Once you are ready to register your player follow steps 1-4 below.

ID Photo Requirements

  • Photo must be in color and not copied/scanned from other documents
  • Head should be positioned directly facing the camera
  • Photo should capture from slightly above top of hair to middle of chest
  • Eyes should be open and looking at the camera
  • No inappropriate facial expressions or gestures
  • Background should be plain white or off-white, black background is NOT acceptable
  • Eyeglasses should NOT be worn
  • Head coverings should NOT be worn i.e. scrum caps should be removed
